Disaster Relief/Post-disaster Rehab: FV played a significant role in the relief and rehab operations during and after the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, and the 1999 Orissa cyclone. We undertook a detailed assessment of a relatively innovative housing and livelihood restoration program for the Orissa cyclone victims and deduced lessons of wider interest for all stakeholders involved with post-disaster rehab. Ten days following the Gujarat earthquake, we carried out an on-the-spot analysis of rehab needs for CARE, and evaluated a comprehensive housing-cum-livelihood restoration program launched by FICCI-CARE, two years later. We also assessed the livelihood needs of women-headed households in 1000 quake-affected villages to delineate livelihood opportunities. The Government of Gujarat launched a long-term Asian Development Bank funded livelihood restoration program based on our blue-print. We also worked out an action plan for Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to revive/strengthen small and micro enterprise sector of Kutch; following the earthquake. Kutch economy, following the rehab effort, has witnessed an unprecedented upsurge and is booming once again.
 

Tourism/Hospitality: Fv has contributed to the development of various travel, tourism and hospitality as well as entertainment sectors throughout India for the past 12 years now. Some of the leading hotels we helped develop across India are:

Apart, from hospitality we participated in designing a program to promote the tourism industry in Gujarat along with the Gujarat government and Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. (TCGL). We were also the chief consultants for the Science City established at Ahmadabad.
